Winslow Township Middle School hosted a Pink Out Day on October 11th. The staff and students wore pink to show their support for Breast Cancer awareness.
You probably wonder why it takes place in October. Attention towards Breast cancer awareness was first a weeklong event, in 1985. After it became so popular, it eventually extended to the full month of October. The color pink is used as a symbol of hope for those infected by the disease.
Students wore different varieties of pink clothing and accessories. One student, in particular, explained to us what she wore.
“On pink out day I wore a pink sweater, pink shorts, and pink shoes,” Kouture Everett described.
She also added what Pink out Day and Breast Cancer awareness month in all means to her.
“To me pink out day means to show how much you care about the people that are battling and fighting for their lives.”
Another student also added what pink out means to them.
8th grader, Mikala Speller stated, “Pink out day means to raise awareness for breast cancer and to show respect.”
For those battling Breast Cancer, always know Winslow Township Middle School has your back!
