On February 28th, WTMS and the Spirit CLub hosted a Sneaker Ball. Any eligible 8th grade student was able to purchase a $5 ticket to the Sneaker Ball, held in the gymnasium. There were refreshments provided for the students, as well as a DJ providing entertainment.
The Spirit Club had many things to do, in order to prepare for the Sneaker Ball.
Ms. Sampson, Spirit Club Advisor explained, “We worked with the school administration team to pick a day and work out the details of who was able to attend. One of the parents was generous enough to supply decorations for the dance and come set everything up”
Ms. Miller, Spirit Club Advisor also added, “The HSA sold concessions so students could have refreshments during the dance. We used the same DJ company that we use for the 8th grade Semi Formal Dance so the kids would have fun.”
Many students and teachers enjoyed themselves at this event. Mr, Wright, 7th grade assistant principal, was dancing up a storm and having fun with his students.
Mrs. Sampson stated, “The students had a great time. It took a little time for them to start dancing but they were on the dance floor having fun the whole night. Teachers were out there dancing as well. We had a photo wall where they were able to take pictures and they were posing and having fun. The whole night was just full of positive energy!”
Students had numerous good things to say about the Sneaker Ball.
8th grader Arianna Ross, told us, “The Sneaker Ball was really detailed and everyone could tell that the Spirit Club put a lot of work into it. My favorite part was the fact that we formed dance circles and all of the kids were in it and no one was left out. The music was very cool and props to the dj because he took song requests.”
We thank the Spirit Club for this fun and successful dance, and hope they continue these types of events for all students to enjoy.
