The National Junior Honor Society elections took place on Friday September 27th, and the winners were later announced that same day. This year’s officers include President Alayna Bullard, Vice President Nwancha Ajaegbulemh, Treasurer Brielle Anderson, Secretary Louise Gumiit, and Historian Zoey Diaz.
There was a precise and long process each candidate had to follow in order to prepare for the election.
President, Alayna Bullard explains, “The election process begins by figuring which role you want to run for. As in this case I ran for President. After that you need to fill out a bit of information and create a video for people to vote on. I prepared by filling out the needed information and creating my video. A bit after I was preparing for myself and the others to vote.”
Treasurer, Brielle Anderson added, “The election process is easy, but nerve racking. I made sure my vote was secured from everyone I knew that was voting for me and I wanted to make an amazing video so people could remember me when they see my name on the voting ballot.”
The choice to run for a NJHS officer role had to be taken into consideration, a lot of time and effort goes into the role.
Vice President Nwancha Ajaegbulemh clarified, “I decided to run for Vice President because I think I would be the best candidate for my school. I am a helper, leader, and a multitasker which helps me believe I will be able to fit this position comfortably.
There are many responsibilities as well that go into these key NJHS roles.
As Secretary Louise Gumiit described, “Roles and responsibilities for my elected position are to take good notes at each meeting, and making sure that the President and Vice Presidents’ information gets spread out through the rest of the NJHS team.”
Brielle Anderson also stated, “Some roles and responsibilities are to have a leadership mindset, to be a responsible and organized person, be good at math, and especially to be kind, friendly and considerate.”
Sometimes people are meant to be in certain positions.
Just as President Alayna Bullard explains, “I think I am right for this position because I have a passion for community involvement as well as for school activities. My community involvement shows that I care about making a positive impact in the community. Lastly, I think I am right for this position as I am confident in this spot and confidence is needed for a leader.”
