On Oct 16, 2025 The environmental STEM and the Newspaper club of Winslow Township Middle School went to Longwood Gardens. Ms. Kiett, Ms. Irvin, Mr. Steiner, and Ms. Griffin all attended along some additional students from Ms. Irvin’s TV Production class. The reason for the trip was to get the students inspired by the garden for
Ms.Kiett’s Environmental Stem class. Longwood Gardens is located in Kennett Square PA. The students took the bus up to Longwood Gardens to see all the plants and nature exhibits.
Longwood Gardens was founded by Pierre S Dupont. In the early 1900s he transformed the land he brought into an amazing garden with all different kinds of plants. He built this so people could go and explore it. Today, Longwood Gardens is one of the most influential and visited gardens in America.
On this trip the students saw many different things. They went to a fountain show. The fountains shoot up water 175 feet in the air with 1, 719 jets that shoot out in the air. The fountains are illuminated with different colors and can change lights movements. The students also went to the Silver Gardens where cacti is located in the Agave Americana exhibit.
Overall this trip seemed like an amazing experience! The students had a lot of fun and looked at all the different kinds of plants. To see more look at some of the photos here!
